Eiffel Tower
The Iron Icon
In 1889, Paris threw the ultimate party for the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution, hosting the World Fair – think bigger than the Super Bowl. The Eiffel Tower won the contest to be the star attraction, beating out a giant guillotine (yes, really!). Parisians hated it – protests, plummeting real estate, and angry letters galore. But Gustave Eiffel saw the Tower's potential. Once the tallest building in the world, it became a hub for science, radio research, and even intercepted German messages during WW1. Now it’s repainted every seven years and turned golden for the 2024 Olympics.
It’s hard to imagine Paris without it, but originally the tower was only supposed to be built for 20 years. Still standing proud today, the Eiffel Tower has earned its stripes as one of the world’s most recognisable structures.

See the Sparkle
Visit at night for full delight – the Eiffel Tower’s 20,000 lights sparkle on the hour every hour from sundown until midnight.
Take in stunning views of Paris from some of the best vantage points as the city comes to life at night. Our favorite spots to watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle include the Champs de Mars (right in front of the Tower), a boat on the River Seine (departing at or just after sunset for the best experience!), from the Bir Hakeim Bridge, Trocadéro across the river, and even the top of the Arc de Triomphe.
Join our Paris Evening Bike & Boat Tour, where we’ve perfectly planned the evening to ensure you have a moment to enjoy for yourself!

You can get stunning views of the tower from many parts of Paris, but how to get to the icon itself? Take line 8 to Ecole Militaire or La Motte-Piquet Grenelle, walk up the Champs de Mars to the Eiffel Tower for about 10 minutes. Or take like 6 to Bir Hakim for a 5 minute walk.
For the best views we recommend taking line 9 to Trocadéro or Iéna and walking 15 minutes across the Seine on Pont d’Iéna.
And if you’re metro’d out there’s plenty of buses to get you to the tower’s doorstep too.
Staying local and fancy navigating on foot? Pop in Eiffel Tower, Av. Gustave Eiffel, 75007 Paris to your maps app and voilà.

Ticket to the top or not?
The views from the 2nd floor are fabulous – and if you’re up for the challenge you can take the 674 steps. Or you can elevate your experience and go all the way. The lifts to the 3rd floor are small and slow but you can reward yourself with a glass of champagne at the top. Santé.
